Science Applications International Corp. will purchase SM Consulting Inc., a provider of information technology and linguistics services to government and commercial clients. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Linthicum, Md., company offers language training, IT, management consulting, business process outsourcing and logistics to federal, state and local governments and private industry.
Founded in 1996, SMC is on the General Services Administration Language Services schedule, providing extensive domain expertise in foreign-language translations, interpretation and training services to the defense and intelligence communities.
SMC was named in August 2006 to the GSA Mission Oriented Business Integrated Services contract.
The deal will allow SMC to offer a broader range of services and give its employees greater opportunities for personal and professional development as part of SAIC, said Sheila Heinze, president and chief executive officer at SMC.
The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of April, SAIC said. SMC will then join SAIC's Mission Integration Business Unit in Reston, Va.
SAIC of San Diego, ranks No. 5
