Rockwell Collins buys Athena Technologies

Rockwell Collins Inc. has acquired Athena Technologies Inc., a provider of flight control and navigation systems for unmanned aerial vehicles. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will boost Rockwell Collins' ability to provide control systems for UAVs to both the military and commercial markets, company officials said. The transaction should be completed in about 30 days.

Athena Technologies of Warrenton, Va., designs and manufactures the GuideStar family of flight control systems for commercial aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, target drones and missiles.

Rockwell Collins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, specializes in communications and aviation electronics systems for the government and commercial sectors.
