Iteris grabs pair of Va. transportation deals

Iteris Inc. will provide intelligent transportation systems services and related technical expertise to the Virginia Department of Transportation under two five-year contracts with a potential combined value of $12 million.

Under the two contracts, Iteris will address system operations, intelligent transportation systems and traffic engineering and safety. The company will assist with focused tasks, such as technical document reviews, and broader efforts such as the development of regional and statewide operational plans.

One contract, which is managed by VDOT's Operations and Security Division, covers the central region of the state and the state capital. The other contract, which is overseen by the Northern Operations Region, covers the northern part of the state and includes some of Virginia's most heavily used roads.

Iteris, based in Anaheim, Calif., provides advanced technologies designed to reduce traffic congestion, minimize environmental impact and improve the safety of surface transportation systems.
