DRS gets Coast Guard repair facility extension

DRS Technologies Inc. has won a $31 million contract to continue supporting the Coast Guard's Aircraft and Repair Supply Center at the Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City, N.C.

Under the contract, DRS Technical Services of Dulles, Va., will provide resources, technical engineering and logistics services, avionics assistance and facilities operations at that location.

Specifically, DRS will provide depot-level maintenance, major repairs and overhauls and modifications to fixed-wing and rotary aircraft and associated aeronautical equipment.

The company will maintain fixed-wing aircraft such as the HC-130 Hercules, HU-25 Guardian and rotary aircraft such as the HH-65 Dolphin and HH-60 Pave Hawk.

The Coast Guard awarded the contract through the Army's Communications-Electronic Command's Rapid Response program office.

DRS Technologies of Parsippany, N.J., has about 10,000 employees and had annual revenue of $1.7 billion in 2006. It ranks No. 30 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
