Picture this: Golfing for dollars

The National Defense Industrial Association raised $32,000 at its annual golf tournament for the USO's Washington area chapter. The tournament was held at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.

The check was scheduled to be presented to Washington-area USO President Elaine Rogers May 11 at a luncheon held by NDIA.

The USO supports enlisted service members, providing support to soldiers and their families. The D.C. chapter operates airport lounges and family service centers. Other services include food assistance and emergency housing.

Clockwise, from near right: Buddy Hopkins, of the Army, watches his shot; Bob Chagnot, of General Dynamics Corp., swings out of the sand at the ninth hole; J. Scott McCauley, of Perot Systems Inc., follows through on his shot; Maj. Gen. Robert Smolen, of the Air Force, at the tee; and Elaine Rogers, (left), Washington-area chapter president of the USO, greets Moira Flanders of the Navy.
