LaVigne named president of Apptis

Apptis Inc. announced today that Rene LaVigne will serve as president and chief operating officer following the abrupt departure of president and CEO Steve Baldwin on Wednesday. The company's statement did not provide any insight into the reason for Baldwin's departure."I want to personally thank Steve Baldwin for his leadership and service to this company," LaVigne said in the statement. "Steve helped lead the company through a number of acquisitions and a high-growth period that leaves us well poised for continued growth and success."Apptis promoted LaVigne to chief operating officer in January. He now will be responsible for corporate strategy, operations, business development and sales for the Chantilly, Va., federal systems integrator.The company also announced that it has added to its board of directors Bert Notini, president and COO of Sonus Networks Inc.Apptis of Chantilly, Va., ranks on Washington Technology's 2006 of the largest federal IT contractors.
