DRC to assist NAVAIR with process improvement

Dynamics Research Corp. won a one-year, $8.9 million task order from AGI to continue supporting the Naval Air Systems Command in its efforts to improve maintenance operations.

Under the task order, DRC of Andover, Mass., will provide Lean Six Sigma technical and support services for NAVAIR intermediate maintenance activities and provide associated training and certification at various NAVAIR facilities around the globe.

The work is part of the Enterprise Airspeed project that falls under the Naval Aviation Readiness Integrated Improvement Program. AGI of New Haven, Conn., is the prime contractor on the project.

Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that combines tools from both lean manufacturing and Six Sigma approaches to process improvement. Simply put, lean focuses on speed, while Six Sigma focuses on quality.

DRC, a provider of engineering, technical and IT services to federal and state governments, ranks No. 60 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
