ACS lands $230M Texas Medicaid support deal

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will continue supplying Medicaid-related support services to the state of Texas through a $230 million contract extension.

Under the extension, ACS of Dallas will handle Medicaid claims processing, supply operations support and administer a primary care case management program.

ACS, Accenture Ltd. and MMC Group have formed the Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership responsible for processing claims and providing support for the Texas Medicaid program.

The partnership works on a wide array of matters with more than 45,000 health care providers ranging from claims processing and prior authorization to management of medical conditions and call center support. The partnership, with a workforce of 1,200 employees based in Austin, processes more than 5 million claims and answers from than 300,000 provider and client phone inquiries monthly.

ACS, which offers business processing and IT outsourcing services to the commercial and government sectors, has more than 58,000 employees and had annual sales of $4.3 billion in fiscal 2005. The company ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list the largest federal IT contractors.
