SAIC snaps up Applied Marine Technology

Science Applications International Corp. will acquire Applied Marine Technology Inc., a provider of services for special operations and missions by military, intelligence and law enforcement.

Science Applications International Corp. will acquire Applied Marine Technology Inc., a provider of services for special operations and missions by military, intelligence and law enforcement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AMTI of Virginia Beach, Va., provides customers with training and exercises, systems engineering and integration, information systems and communications and prototyping technical solution and products.

The company, which has more than 500 employees, also designs, develops and produces communications, IT, personal protection and explosive ordnance products. The companies expect to close the deal in December 2006.

SAIC of San Diego has 43,000 employees and had annual revenue of $7.8 billion for the fiscal year ended Jan. 31. The company ranks No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list the largest federal IT contractors.
