ManTech stands up info security product group

ManTech International Corp. has completed the spin-out of its NetWitness information security product group.

The new venture, NetWitness Corp., will consist of the core product team from the ManTech?NetWitness group. ManTech will maintain an ownership stake in the new company. Additional financial terms have not been announced.

NetWitness is a network forensics analysis product that furnishes organizations with capabilities in network content analysis and risk determination for incident response, investigations and insider threat-related activities.

NetWitness gives organizations more streamlined, timely and effective incident responses for both internal and external threats. NetWitness has been used by the intelligence community, the Defense Department and federal law enforcement agencies, officials said.

"The spin-out will allow NetWitness to grow and develop as part of a venture-funded company with management team expertise in early stage product development focused on expansion into commercial applications," said Robert A. Coleman, president of ManTech International.

ManTech of Fairfax, Va., has more than 6,000 employees and had 2005 revenue of $980.3 million. The company ranks No. 21 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list the largest federal IT contractors.
