ACS wins $110M Maryland human resources IT deal

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will deliver IT outsourcing services to the Maryland Department of Resources through a three-year contract worth $110 million.
Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will handle mainframe and Web hosting operations and service, applications support and disaster recover. The company also will furnish around-the-clock help-desk support.
ACS' team includes IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y.; Syscom Inc., New York; and a consortium of minority owned businesses.
The Maryland State Board of Public Works, as well as the appropriate federal oversight agencies, approved the contract.
ACS specializes in IT and business process outsourcing. The company, which has about 55,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in fiscal 2006, ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006
Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
