Balutis joins Cisco

Alan Balutis has joined Cisco Systems Inc. as a distinguished fellow and director of its North American public sector consulting business.

The position is a new one created by Cisco. He will work with government customers on how to use technology to transform their operations.

Balutis stepped down Aug. 3 as president and CEO of government strategies for market research firm Input Inc. of Reston, Va.

Balutis spent 27 years in government, holding senior management, budget, finance, planning and IT positions in the Commerce Department and in what is now the Health and Human Services Department.

He also is former president and chief operating officer of Veridyne Inc. of Broomall, Pa. Previously, Balutis served as executive director of what is now known as the American Council of Technology and the Industry Advisory Council.
