ACS wins pharmacy benefits contract in Ohio

Ohio families on public assistance will rely on Affiliated Computer Services Inc. to handle their pharmacy benefits information.

Dallas-based ACS won a 13-month, $26.2 million contract to provide pharmacy benefits management services for the Ohio Job and Family Services Department. The contract also has two, two-year options, the company said.

The pact calls for ACS to handle pharmaceutical claims processing, prospective drug utilization review and federal rebate administration. The company also will provide supplemental rebate negotiation and administration, and will design and maintain a preferred drug list.

ACS will supply call center services and handle provider education. The company also will compile reports and handle prior authorizations.

ACS holds pharmaceutical benefits administrator contracts for 30 programs in 25 states and the District of Columbia.

ACS has more than 55,000 employees and had fiscal 2006 revenue of $5.35 billion. ACS ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
