L-3 names interim CEO

Committee will search for permanent chief executive

Michael Strianese was named today interim CEO of L-3 Communications Inc. Strianese is the New York company's chief financial officer.

He will hold the post while the board of directors searches for a replacement for Frank Lanza, co-founder of L-3, who died Tuesday.

Robert Millard, an L-3 board member, was named non-executive chairman. He also is a managing director of Lehman Brothers Inc. and head of Lehman Brothers' Global Trading Strategies.

Strianese became CFO in March 2005 and has been with L-3 in various capacities since the company was formed in 1997.

L-3's board formed an executive committee of three independent members ? Thomas Corcoran, Millard and Peter Cohen?to conduct the search for Lanza's successor. Corcoran will lead the committee.

L-3 ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal government IT contractors.
