Deltek, DHS execs, WIT honors 5

The Homeland Security Department and software maker Deltek Systems Inc. have named, respectively, a top procurement official, a CIO and chairman of the board, while industry group Women in Technology honored five government sector IT execs.

At DHS, Jeff Conklin is the new CIO of Citizenship and Immigration Services. Conklin most recently was CEO of the Washington School. He succeeds Terrazzia Martin, who moved to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence earlier this month.

Deltek has elected company president and CEO Kevin Parker as chairman of the board, replacing company co-founder Ken deLaski, who retired in April. Parker was chief financial officer and co-president of PeopleSoft Inc. before its acquisition by Oracle Corp.

Mentoring was the focus of WIT's awards this year, with special recognition going to Leah-Hooten-Clark of Northrop Grumman Corp., Karyn Hayes-Ryan of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Barbara Anderson of EDS Corp., Charlotte Pelliccia of Pelliccia Communications and Debra Ruh of TecAccess LLC.
