Hansen to navigate N.J. Turnpike asset management

Software designed and developed by Hansen Information Technologies Inc. could help improve the driving experience for the more than 600,000 vehicles that travel the New Jersey Turnpike every day.

Hansen Technologies Inc. of Rancho Cordoba, Calif., won a contract from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority to install an enterprise asset management software system to help maintain both the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway.

The contract is valued at $1.5 million, said Juli Rose, a Hansen spokeswoman. Hansen's Transit and Rail Business Unit will perform the work.

As part of the project, Hansen will furnish software and implementation and integration services for the authority's PeopleSoft inventory, purchasing and payroll modules. The new system also will be tied to a third-party fuel management system.

Once installed, the new asset management system will help the authority better manage work orders, inspections and timekeeping. The system also will manage work associated with snow and ice removal, environmental spills and clean-up and equipment damage tracking.

In addition to the two major toll roads, the authority also maintains 1,000 bridges and more than 100 interchanges and supporting infrastructure, which includes signs, guard rails, buildings and vehicles.
