Merlin wins NOAA center tech support work

Merlin Technical Solutions Inc. won a $2.5 million contract to maintain and support the hardware and software operations for a key data collection arm of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services awarded Merlin a one-year contract with three one-year options, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

Terms of the contract call for the company to recommend, install and maintain the agency's network operations hardware and software.

Merlin will maintain the center's licensing information as well as provide systems integration services. The company also will handle the daily administration of existing networking devices, Windows NT network, migration and management of Windows Active Directory network and administration of e-mail and the local area network.

The center provides weather information to several NOAA agencies, including the National Weather Service, and plays a key role in alerting the public to severe weather.

Merlin of Greenwood Village, Colo., has about 70 employees and fiscal 2004 revenue of $88.2 million. The company ranks No. 1 on Washington Technology's 2005 Fast 50 list, which ranks small companies based on the growth of their federal government contracting revenues over the last five years.
