Mass. seeks satellite service

The Massachusetts State Police want satellite services that offer voice over IP, data and video as well as provide Internet connectivity. A request for proposals is expected in June.

The state police seek a secure system that can be easily integrated into existing IT infrastructure with a minimum of disruption. One possible approach is to equip the state police general headquarters as a satellite ground station and install high-speed satellite antennae and equipment at the mobile command center.

Automated welfare in N.C.

The North Carolina Human Services Department needs help re-engineering business processes associated with access and intake functions of a statewide welfare system. An RFP is expected in May.

Amendments to federal laws and regulations over the years have made it necessary for the state to hire a contractor to redesign the automated information systems and infrastructure that support workers.

Vital records system in Illinois

The Illinois Public Health Department's Vital Records Division wants a contractor to provide software that will let qualified users enter data associated with births and deaths in the state. An RFP is expected in May.

The software should offer a Web-based means for hospitals, clinics, funeral directors, physicians, medical examiners, coroners and local registrars to enter vital records data. The contractor will install the package and train staff and others on its use.

New Jersey hardware equipment

The New Jersey Treasury Department's Purchase and Property Division wants several vendors to offer servers, LAN and WAN equipment and related services.

An RFP is expected in May. The procurement is part of a statewide strategic sourcing initiative.
