NASA re-ups SAIC for mission support work

Science Applications International Corp. won a $148 million contract renewal to furnish safety and mission assurance support services for NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The three-year contract has two one-year options. If all options are exercised, the contract total might reach $256.5 million.

SAIC's team will support safety, reliability, maintainability and quality for the space shuttle, International Space Station, payloads and other items prepared for flight.

The company also will handle technical and process issues, future programs and new technologies, and operation of the White Sands Test Facility near Las Cruces, N.M.

SAIC, which has more than 43,000 employees and annual sales of $7.2 billion, ranks No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
