NCI nabs Army software management deal

NCI Inc. won a task order contract worth about $4.5 million to support the Network Enterprise Technology Command in improving delivery of Army and Defense Department-licensed software to Army IT organizations.

The Army awarded the task order to NCI Information Systems Inc. under its five-year, $500 million Information Technology Enterprise Solutions (ITES) contract, awarded in September 2003. Under the contract, the government can buy state-of-the-art equipment and services for worldwide use in support of the Army.

The work will reduce the total cost of ownership by standardizing desktop and server software configurations and provide better network security, the company said.

Based at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., the Network Enterprise Technology Command operates, manages and defends the Army's information infrastructure at the enterprise level.

NCI Information Systems is a unit of NCI Inc., Reston, Va. The company provides IT solutions and systems engineering and integration services to federal government agencies. It has more than 1,450 employees and had revenue of $171.3 million in fiscal 2004.

NCI Information Systems ranks No. 92 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
