General Dynamics finishes FC Business Systems acquisition

General Dynamics Corp. has completed its acquisition of local IT firm FC Business Systems Inc.

The privately owned company, which performs engineering and IT services for the federal government, will become part of General Dynamics Network Systems business unit. More than half of FC Business Systems' approximately 1,000 employees hold security clearances. The company expects its 2005 sales to be about $150 million.

General Dynamics did not disclose the terms of the deal when it was announced Dec. 13.

General Dynamics Network Systems provides IT solutions and integrates converged enterprise and wireless networks for government and commercial customers. It had more than 6,000 employees before the acquisition.

General Dynamics of Falls Church, Va., has about 71,900 workers and had 2004 revenue of nearly $19.2 billion. The company ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
