EDS wins Canadian pension modernization deal

EDS Corp. has won an eight-year, $100 million contract from Public Works and Government Services Canada to modernize the country's public employees pension program.

Under the contract, EDS Canada and its teammates will provide professional services and install commercial software. It also will supply pension plan members with Internet connections and call center support to communicate with pension administrators. EDS also will provide administrators with new technology and quick access to data that will let them process members' pension requests quickly and efficiently.

EDS' key partners on the project are JEA Ltd. and Pearson Canada Solutions. JEA will provide a commercial pension software and assistance with the software installation, while Pearson will help re-engineer and modernize business processes to improve customer relationship management and build a modern contact center.

Seibel Systems Inc. and Oracle Corp. will provide additional software to support core pension administration, CRM, workflow, data warehousing and reporting.

EDS of Plano, Texas, has more than 117,000 employees and annual sales of $20.7 billion. The company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
