CSC's Cofoni to retire

Computer Sciences Corp. today reported that Paul Cofoni has notified the company he will retire as president of its Federal Sector business unit, effective Aug. 12.

Computer Sciences Corp. today reported that Paul Cofoni has notified the company he will retire as president of its Federal Sector business unit, effective Aug. 12.

Cofoni has led the federal unit since March 2001.

Mike Laphen, CSC's president and chief operating officer, will act as president of CSC Federal until a replace is named.

"Throughout his tenure with the company, Paul has significantly influenced CSC's success through his positive accomplishments in several key leadership positions," CSC Chairman and CEO Van B. Honeycutt said in a statement.

The unit's highest-profile contract is its work on the prime contract to modernize the business systems at the Internal Revenue Service.

CSC is ranked No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of the largest government IT contractors.
