Alion purchases share in VectorCommand

Alion Science and Technology Corp. has purchased 12 percent of VectorCommand Ltd. in a move to boost its emergency management offerings.

Alion Science and Technology Corp. has purchased 12 percent of VectorCommand Ltd. in a move to boost its emergency management offerings, the company announced today.

The investment gives Alion of McLean, Va., exclusive rights to sell current and future VectorCommand emergency management software products throughout the United States and other selected countries. The value of the investment was not disclosed.

Alion plans to market the products to the homeland security, emergency management and first responder communities as an integral part of its "Solutions for All Hazards" offering.

VectorCommand of Hampshire, U.K., is a provider of emergency services software products and solutions.

Alion, a provider of technical services and operational support, has more than has more than 2,600 employees and annual sales of $270 million. The company ranks No. 63 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
