Mass. taps ACS for electronic benefits transfer

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a $27 million contract from the state of Massachusetts to provide electronic benefit transfer services, the company announced today. The seven-year contract has two one-year options.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will provide electronic benefits processing, a U.S.-based call center, database account management and retailer management.

The contract was awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance and the Massachusetts Office of Treasury. The existing system will convert to an ACS-built system in August.

ACS' Family and Community Services business line focuses on the management, automation and operation of public sector human services programs and child support payment processing services.

ACS is a provider of IT and business process outsourcing to government and commercial clients. The company has more than 43,000 employees and annual sales of $4.1 billion.
