Balutis hired by market research firm

IT market research firm Input Inc. has hired former government IT executive Alan Balutis as president and chief executive officer of its strategies unit.

IT market research firm Input Inc. has hired former government IT executive Alan Balutis as president and chief executive officer of its strategies unit, the company said today.

Balutis, who will assume his new position on Feb. 1, spent 27 years in the government, holding senior management, budget, finance, planning, and IT positions in the Commerce Department and in what is now the Health and Human Services Department.

In his new post, he will be responsible for Input's consulting, industry analysis and events services as well as building and strengthening the company's relationships with senior government officials.

Before joining Input, Balutis was president and chief operating officer of Veridyne Inc., a Broomall, Pa., IT company that specializes in enterprise asset, supply chain, logistics and property management systems. He also is the former executive director and COO of the Industry Advisory Council and the Federation of Government Information Processing Councils, now called the American Council for Technology.

While in government, he was the first recipient of the Annual Commerce Award for Outstanding Management and received a silver medal and two gold medals?the department's two highest honors.

Balutis is also a member of Government Computer News' IT Hall of Fame. GCN is a sister publication of Washington Technology.

Input also appointed Kevin Plexico, an executive vice president, as executive vice president of the company's information services unit. In his new role, Plexico will focus on expanding the company's market intelligence products.

Based in Reston, Va., Input provides market research primarily for companies that compete for government contracts as well as information to help state and local governments compete for grants. The privately owned company has more than 1,000 clients.
