Newstrom to head WiSPER Technologies

Former Virginia secretary of technology and EDS Corp. exec George Newstrom has become the president and CEO of a wireless document company.

IMC Inc. named George Newstrom president and chief executive officer of its new subsidiary WiSPER Technologies LLC, the company said today.

From March 2002 to October 2004, Newstrom was Virginia's secretary of technology. He came to the state office after a 27-year career with EDS Corp. where his final position was a corporate senior vice president and president of the company's Asia Pacific operations.

WiSPER, an acronym for wireless standardized portable electronic records, was established to assist medical professionals and other clients in the complex area of portable electronic records.

"There will be less time devoted to data entry, transcribing and other such manual activities," Newstrom said.

IMC of Reston, Va., provides systems and software development services and has expertise in public health, bioinformatics and other related areas to government, commercial businesses, higher education and scientific organizations.
