NASCIO votes Delaware's Jarrett president

NEW ORLEANS ? Tom Jarrett, Delaware's secretary of technology and chief information officer, was elected to serve as the 2004-2005 president of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers, the organization announced Tuesday. Jarrett succeeds Missouri CIO Gerry Wethington, who served as the association's president for the past two terms.

Jarrett said he plans to build on Wethington's work aligning government technical investments with state business agendas. "My goal will be implementing NASCIO's strategic plan, with a particular emphasis on IT privacy and security issues," Jarrett said in a press release announcing his election to the position.

The membership also elected new officers and directors for the organization. The officers are:

Vice President - Matt Miszewski, Wisconsin CIO

Secretary/Treasurer - Val Oveson, Utah CIO

Past President - Gerry Wethington, Missouri CIO

Returning directors are:

Terry Savage, Nevada CIO

Teresa Takai, Michigan CIO

Richard Thompson, Maine CIO

New directors are:

Jim Dillon, New York CIO

Otto Doll, South Dakota CIO

John Gillespie, Iowa CIO

Greg Jackson, Ohio CIO

Separately, NASCIO's Corporate Leadership Council elected Pat Cummens of ESRI Inc. as its chairwoman. The council also elected Aldona Valicenti of Oracle Corp. and Rick Webb of Accenture Ltd. as vice chairs. The leadership changes were effective Tuesday.
