After a protracted bid protest battle with the incumbent contractor, EDS Corp. finally has taken sole possession of the Housing and Urban Development Department's Information Technology Systems contract, known as HITS.

EDS originally won the $750 million contract last August, but long-time incumbent Lockheed Martin Corp. protested. The Government Accountability Office told HUD to recompete the contract.

Lockheed Martin has requested a debriefing to determine if it wants to protest this award.

Under the HUD Information Technology Systems contract, EDS will furnish personnel, hardware and software, telecommunications, facilities and services to deliver HUD's basic IT functions at more than 80 HUD offices nationwide.
