Los Angeles County taps AMS for financial management

American Management Systems Inc. has won a six-year, $13 million contract to provide Los Angeles County with a new financial management system, the company announced this week.

AMS of Fairfax, Va., will implement Advantage 3.0, the latest version of its Web-enabled financial management software. The new system is expected to streamline business operations for officials responsible for managing the county's $17 billion budget, the company said.

Specifically, the software will improve the financial systems by eliminating redundant investments and allowing the county to retire dozens of disparate systems. It also will give county officials real-time access to financial information and let them make more timely decisions regarding program funding.

AMS has 31 Advantage 3.0 customers. The company offers business and information technology consulting services to government and commercial clients. It has about 6,500 employees and annual sales of $961.6 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
