ERP vendor launches integrator-focused product

Deltek Systems Inc. has released a new product that it said will help systems integrators win and retain business.

Deltek Systems Inc., a developer of enterprise resource planning software for government contractors, has released a new product that the company said will help systems integrators win and retain business.

Deltek GovWin is built on the company's customer relationship management software, but it includes a pre-configured database and tools that are tailored to government contractors.

Richard Lowrey, executive vice president at Herndon, Va.-based Deltek, said the product was designed specifically for contractors so they could use it right away without additional customization.

GovWin provides a Web-based central repository where companies can enter, store and access detailed client- and contract-related data. Among the pre-configured data that it can track are competitive assessments, post-award debriefings and team reviews.

The system also handles contract specifications, such as contract values, modifications, performance information and locations, as well as employee information, including affiliations, memberships and clearances.

The company said GovWin can also act as a knowledge base for future opportunities by tracking firm qualifications and personnel experience, approved text for consistent messaging, win-loss ratios and updates on past and ongoing contract activities.

"It is increasingly clear that software users will demand embedded domain expertise in their applications, and federal contractor applications will be no exception," said Scott Tiazkun, research manager at Framingham, Mass.-based IDC.

According to Deltek, more than 2,100 government contractors use its various software applications, including Computer Sciences Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp. and Science Applications International Corp.

New York-based EDO Corp. purchased Deltek GovWin to manage its Electro-Ceramic Products and Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems divisions.

"EDO has many years of past performance data that can be cited in each proposal for new business, which is important since a significant portion of the bid evaluation process of government contractors is focused on relevant past performance," said Ed Mygland, EDO's director of business development.

Deltek signed a $2 million contract with EDO in February to supply and integrate several ERP solutions, including GovWin.
