Tenn. re-ups Tier Technologies for child support services

Tier Technologies Inc. has won a one-year, $4.4 million contract extension from the Tennessee Department of Human Services to continue providing child support payment services, the company announced this month.

Tier Technologies Inc. has won a one-year, $4.4 million contract extension from the Tennessee Department of Human Services to continue providing child support payment services, the company announced this month.

Under the extension, Tier Technologies of Walnut Creek, Calif., will process child support payments for custodial parents. During 2002, Tier processed more than $342 million in payments, the company said.

The contract extension is the second of two optional one-year extensions provided under the contract, signed in 1999. Since the contract began, Tier has processed child support payments totaling more than $1.2 billion for children and families in the state.

Tier also won a three-year, $22 million contract extension from the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in November.

Tier Technologies, a provider of business and information technology consulting systems design and systems integration, has about 830 employees and annual sales of $103 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
