SAIC to support expansion of submarine communications

Science Applications International Corp. will continue its support of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, R.I., officials of the San Diego company announced Nov. 11.
Under a follow-on contract for electromagnetic senior technical expertise won by SAIC, the company will provide engineering and technical services to the Submarine Electromagnetic Systems Department and the Navy.
The contract is an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract with a potential value of $13.9 million over one base year and four option years.
SAIC's work will include advanced submarine communications, submarine C4I (command, control, communications, computers and intelligence), electromagnetic submarine C4I, electromagnetic system technology, program analysis, metrics, information and reports, installation, testing and analysis and optical and electro-optical design.
The work under this contract will be done at SAIC's Technology Research Group, Ocean Science Division in Mystic, Conn. Support for this contract also will be provided at the customer site.
SAIC's subcontractors include AMSEC LLC of Virginia Beach, Va.; Anteon International Corp. of Fairfax, Va., Rite Solutions Inc. of Middletown, R.I.; Deegan Research Group Inc. of Portsmouth, R.I., and Epsilon System Solutions Inc. of San Diego.
SAIC has supported the center in sonar and periscope technology and submarine electromagnetic systems since 1996.
