Macromedia forms government unit

Macromedia Inc. formed a new unit to provide government-specific support and solutions.

Macromedia Inc. formed a new unit to provide government-specific support and solutions, officials of the San Francisco company announced this week.

Macromedia Government will focus on delivering tools that enable federal, state and local government agencies to create powerful Web sites and Web-based applications, according to the company.

"Government IT users already employ a variety of Macromedia products to deliver valuable, useful Web experiences to their stakeholders," said Penny Wilson, senior vice president of industry solutions for Macromedia. "The development of the Macromedia Government solutions group expands this relationship by drilling down on the primary mission requirements for government users, and creating whole product, one-box solutions specifically targeted to their needs."

On Nov. 3, three new Macromedia government-specific solutions will be available, according to company officials. The solutions will enable updating of Web sites, Web application development and compliance with policy requirements.

The solutions are built on core Macromedia products, including Macromedia ColdFusion MX, Macromedia Contribute 2 and Macromedia Studio MX 2004.
