Keane Inc. has won a three-year, $6 million contract from Michigan's Department of Transportation for applications maintenance and support.

Keane Inc. has won a three-year, $6 million contract from the Michigan Department of Transportation to provide applications maintenance and support, the company announced June 9.

Keane, of Boston, will provide technical staff to the transportation department for the ongoing maintenance and support of its mission-critical application software.

The contract follows Keane's selection to serve as a preferred vendor by the Michigan Department of Information Technology earlier this year. Keane's preferred-vendor status enables it to bid on projects with 20 state departments, the company said.

The company has been doing business with Michigan since 1999.

Keane provides applications software to commercial and government customers. Its three main service offerings are business consulting, application development and integration, and application development and management outsourcing.

Keane has more than 7,300 employees and annual sales of $873.2 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
