Maximus acquires justice firm

Maximus Inc. has acquired National Misdemeanant Private Probation Operations from Behavioral Interventions Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

NMPPO, which was a unit of Behavioral Interventions of Boulder, Colo., provides a number of nonresidential corrections services for people who have been found guilty of misdemeanors. These include offender assessment, case management and supervision and collection of fines, fees and restitution.

The firm also provides programming, including treatment groups, education classes and drug and alcohol testing and monitoring.

The purchase allows Maximus to partner with Behavioral Interventions to access proprietary electronic monitoring technology. The 16-year-old firm has 251 employees in 63 offices in eight states. Its management will remain with Maximus under long-term employment agreements.
