Accordis Inc. has won a one-year, $2 million contract extension from Chicago to provide outsourcing of ambulance transportation services, the company announced last week.
Under the contract, Accordis of New York provides primary billing and collection activity for all ambulance transports operated by Chicago. The Chicago Department of Revenue operates the second largest emergency medical system in the nation, with more than 200,000 transports a year.
Accordis provides similar outsourcing services to other public and private health care clients, including the New York City Fire Department, Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, Cook County, Ill., Bureau of Health Services and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp.
Accordis, a provider of business office outsourcing services to health care providers nationwide, is a wholly owned subsidiary of HMS Holdings Corp. of New York. HMS Holdings has about 500 employees and annual sales of about $68.6 million for 2002.
