Bantu wins Air Force instant messaging deal

The Air Force has negotiated an enterprise license for the Bantu Instant Messaging and Presence Platform.

The service bought the application through its Global Combat Support System-Air Force contract with Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md.

Bantu Inc. of Washington, which also has customers in the Army and Navy, will make its instant-messaging app available to users of the Air Force Portal. The program lets users build buddy lists and communicate instantaneously with other users online.

The Air Force Portal, which features a white pages database of users, consolidates hundreds of resources?from payroll services to information on benefits?into a single point of entry.
