Briefs: N.C. plans welfare upgrade

The North Carolina Department of Human Services plans to release an RFP to implement business process re-engineering recommendations to improve access and intake functions for the state's welfare systems. The solicitation is expected in the first quarter of this year.
The state wants to create a single, comprehensive system to support the delivery of integrated human services in its counties. The changes will bring proactive case management tools to improve effectiveness and help families move toward independence.
