Flooded with requests to attend its industry day for a new cloud computing platform, the Army has split the day into two parts.
Companies whose names fall from A through I, or have a name that starts with a number will attend the 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. session for the Army’s Enterprise IT as a Service contract.
Companies with names falling from J through Z will attend session two from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The industry day will be held May 7 at in Thurman Hall at Fort Belvoir in Virginia.
EITaaS is an Army initiative to move more of its enterprise IT resources into cloud environments. The program will start with at least one pilot to test commercial solutions.
The strong response really isn’t a surprise given how hot a market area cloud computing is and how much interest there is moving more IT infrastructure to the cloud. No dollar value attached to this contract yet, but it will be a big win for whoever captures it.
