Unisys Federal lead PV Puvvada not joining SAIC

As Science Applications International Corp. closed its $1.2 billion acquisition of Unisys Federal, company officials shared that the highest-profile executive at the company in Venkatapathi “PV” Puvvada has decided not to transition to SAIC.

When the deal was first announced, officials from both companies said the entire Unisys Federal management team would be going to SAIC. That is still true, except for Puvvada.

“All of PV’s direct reports are in leadership roles, either in the Solutions & Technology Group or in one of the (SAIC) verticals,” the group's executive vice president and general manager Josh Jackson told Washington Technology.

Puvvada was not available for comment on what comes next for him. He did get a severance package from Unisys Corp. that included an undisclosed payout.

Though he isn’t joining SAIC, Jackson said that Puvvada played a large role in the transaction.

“We are disappointed that PV is not joining us for the long term in his chapter, but we are grateful for all he has done,” Jackson said.

Puvvada was involved in much of the planning and preparation for the closing of the deal and the start of integration. Puvvada has "been instrumental" in helping with “a lot of the key decisions we had to make around integration and how we integrate and operate,” Jackson said.

Puvvada is a well-known figure in the government market. He’s been awarded four Federal 100 awards from our sibling publication FCW. In 2015, he won an Eagle Award as part of FCW’s Fed100 program. He’s the immediate past chair of the Professional Services Council and is active with the Industry Advisory Council.
