Army, DOD speakers set for WT Category Management Industry Day

Procurement experts from the Army and the Defense Department have joined our lineup of government officials at our next WT Industry Day discussing how category management is changing the business environment in the market.

John Bergin, business technology officer in DOD’s CIO office, will join Bill Zielanski from the General Services Administration as our keynote speakers at the Feb. 16 event.

Doug Haskin, from the Army’s Computer Hardware, Enterprise software and Solutions or CHESS program, will be part of a panel on IT products.

The Feb. 16 event at the Tysons Ritz Carlton also includes a full slate of GSA officials speaking about various parts of category management. We’ll have sessions looking at how category management is playing out in areas of security, telecom and services.

Category management is having an impact on the market, and we’ll be discussing how it is creating a new way of doing business.

Some of our other speakers include:

  • Paul Morris, It hardware subcategory manager
  • Jim Clausen, director of solutions development IT software subcategory
  • Casey Kelly, acting IT services subcategory
  • Shon Lyublanovits, IT security subcategory manager
  • Amando Gavino, telecom subcategory manager

The event begins at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and networking. The program will start at 8:25 a.m. when I kick things off with some opening remarks and introductions. Everything should wrap up by noon. We’ll also have a morning break, so there should be plenty of time to network and get to meet the government speakers.

Click here for a full breakdown of the morning and the agenda.

I encourage you to bring any questions or observations about category management to the event. This will be a great opportunity to connect with the folks who are running these programs. And if you don’t want to ask a question yourself, send me an email [nwakeman@washingtontechnology.com], and I’ll ask for you.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
