HP-EDS impact on the market

When someone first mentioned that Hewlett-Packard was rumored to be buying EDS, I didn't believe it. But that's almost always my first thought ? why would EDS want to sell? They are big, they've got great market penetration. HP wanting to buy makes more sense, but it is a huge risk for them.

Of course, it is good for EDS shareholders, who get a nice premium on their shares.

But what about the customers? What about the partners for EDS and HP? How will this help them?

HP wants to continue building its services business, but will buying EDS hurt HP's ability to work with other integrators? How does this affect EDS' ability to work with other hardware vendors?

Those are the questions, I'm throwing out to you all. Post a comment, or e-mail me at nwakeman@1105govinfo.com and I'll post it for you.

Tell me what you think.
