Bidding period open for $3B Sandia management contract

Contractors may now bid on an almost $3 billion Sandia National Labs management contract, according to FCW.

The current contract, held by Lockheed Martin’s Sandia Corp., expires in 2017. Sandia Corp. has run the lab since 1993.

Bids are due June 30 and the Energy Department is expected to award the contract by the end of calendar year 2016.

So far, Fluor, CGI Federal, Information Technology Corp., Definitive Logic Corp., Lockheed Martin, Battelle Memorial Institute, Boeing, and a few universities have all shown interest, according to The Albuquerque Journal.

Battelle announced on May 24 that it plans on working with Boeing and state universities to pursue the contract, FCW reported.

The Albuquerque, N.M., based lab has an annual operating budget of around $2.88 billion and employs more than 10,000 people.
