Cyber Defense Information Assurance has won an $11.5 million contract modification to support the Air Force Intranet Control (AFINC) weapon system.

The AFINC weapon system provides the Air Force with enterprise-level network management and optimized communications from the AirForce Network, Air Force Secret Internet Protocol Router Network to the DoD Information Network and other Air Force network locations, the Air Force said on its website.

The system also operates the Common User virtual private network mesh tying the components of the Air Force’s intranet together and protecting Air Force network traffic through encryption as it traverses public infrastructure, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Ala., and is expected to be complete by July 2017.
