Former SRA CEO takes reins at Blackboard

Blackboard has appointed former SRA International CEO Bill Ballhaus to the position of chairman and CEO.

He succeeds Jay Bhatt, who is staying on as a special advisor to the chairman.

"As Blackboard enters its next phase of growth, Jay and the board have agreed that now is a good time to transition leadership of the company to Bill," said Peter Wilde, the managing director of majority owner Providence Equity Partners.

Ballhaus recently left his post as CEO of SRA International when the company merged with the government business of CSC into the new CSRA in November.
