Trident Systems has won a $24.4 million contract to support Navy communications components and systems.

Under the contract, Trident Systems will provide research of persistent airborne data link communications components and systems.

The effort will increase the effectiveness of small airborne systems by providing actionable, real-time situational awareness information to the warfighter, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in Fairfax, Va., Raleigh, N.C., and is expected to be completed in July 2020.
