CONTRACT AWARD

3 Phoenix tapped for open architecture work

3 Phoenix Inc. will provide engineering services for software development of commercial products and engineering under an $8.7 million Navy contract.

The company is supporting the Navy’s open architecture and network centric operations and warfare systems for Virginia-class submarines and other vessels.

The work extends efforts under a Small Business Innovation Research grant for real-time data fusion and visualization of environmental research data. The Navy is looking for ways to improve the performance of lower power electronics, advanced algorithm design and new applications of open software and hardware.

Work will be done in Chantilly, Va., and the contract runs through May 2016.
