AAI Corp. to support Navy minesweeping system under $11M contract

AAI Corp. has won an $11 million contract to provide the Navy with engineering services in support of the Unmanned Influence Sweep System program.
The UISS is a system that allows the littoral combat ship to perform its mine warfare sweep mission, targeting acoustic, magnetic and magnetic/acoustic combination type mines only, the Defense Department said in a release.
Work will be performed in Hunt Valley, Md., Slidell, La., Hauppauge, N.Y., Columbia, Md., and Lemont Furnace, Penn., and is expected to be completed in December 2016.
