Northrop Grumman nabs $111M contract to support missile countermeasure system

Northrop Grumman has won a $111 million contract to support the Air Force’s Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure system.

The Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure system automatically detects a missile launch, determines if it is a threat and activates a laser-based countermeasure system to track and defeat the missile, Northrop Grumman said in a release.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will provide hardware and support including additional transmitters, missile warning sensors, processors, lasers, control interface units and supporting equipment.
